3 explosives safely defused in Dhaka's Farmgate

The bomb disposal unit of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has defused three cocktails found on the footpath in front of Ananda Cinema Hall in the capital's Farmgate area today (8 February).

The police were tipped off about suspicious objects through a call at around 11:10am to the national emergency helpline 999, said Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station OC Golam Azam.

Later, with the help of the bomb disposal unit, three cocktails wrapped in black scotch tape were recovered from inside a black bag at around 1:15pm, he added.

DMP's Tejgaon Division Deputy Police Commissioner (DC) Ibne Mizan said upon receiving the information, a police team rushed to the scene and the cocktails were later safely defused at the old Trade Fair ground following proper procedures.
