Religious Advisor Visits Jamaat Ameer Resting at Home, Army Chief Talked over Phone

Religious advisor Dr. AFM Khalid Hossain visited ailing Jamaat Amir Dr. Shafiqur Rahman at his house. On Sunday (July 20), the advisor reached the Jamaat Amir’s house and inquired about his physical condition. He also prayed for his speedy recovery.

Present at the time were Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary General Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair, Central Executive Council member and Dhaka Metropolitan North Amir Mohammad Selim Uddin, Central Working Council member and Sylhet Metropolitan Amir Fakhrul Islam and Dhaka Metropolitan North Medical Thana Amir Dr. Khaliduzzaman.

General Waker-Uz-Zaman, chief of army staff of the Bangladesh Army, today (20 July) made a phone call to Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman to inquire about his health after learning of his illness.

In a Facebook post on Sunday Jamaat Ameer Shafiqur Rahman said the army chief assured full support for his treatment, if needed. The post added that the Jamaat ameer extends his heartfelt thanks and gratitude to General Waker-Uz-Zaman.

Earlier, on Saturday (July 19), the Jamaat Amir fell ill while speaking at Jamaat’s national rally at Suhrawardy Udyan. While delivering his speech, he fell from a standing position on the stage. After a while, he stood up and fell again. Later, he addressed the leaders and activists while sitting down. After the rally, he was taken to the hospital, where BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir went to see him.
