NEWS DESKA recent survey by Aanchal Foundation reveals that around 42% of university students in Bangladesh face various forms of discrimination. The survey was conducted among 1,173 students.
The findings were shared during a press conference on Saturday.
According to the survey, nearly 60% of students reported experiencing discrimination in exam results, attributing it to personal biases, anger, or favoritism of teachers. Additionally, 30% of students mentioned facing gender-based discrimination, while 19% reported experiencing religious discrimination.
Students also shared that they have been dealing with symptoms such as depression, anxiety, sleep disorders, and stress as a result of these discriminatory practices.
The survey was conducted to assess the state of discrimination in educational institutions, especially following the mass uprising of 24th February. The data collection took place between March and May of this year.
