The Center for Research and Innovation (CRI), often dubbed the “rumor factory” of the ruling Awami League, has allegedly launched a new office in New Delhi’s upscale Lutyens Bungalow Zone—close to the residence of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Reports claim the office is being used to carry out political operations aimed at destabilizing Bangladesh.

Sources allege that CRI is orchestrating cultural and political movements under a new project to mobilize pro-Awami League activists, dubbed "cultural fascists," with the goal of fueling unrest and dividing the forces behind the July uprising. The organization reportedly aims to incite violence at universities and other institutions across the country, paving the way for confrontational campaigns like “Dhaka Attack” or “Jamuna Encirclement.”

The alleged Delhi-based operation is said to focus on three objectives: discrediting the interim government, sabotaging the upcoming national election at any cost, and creating divisions among opposition parties such as the BNP, Jamaat, and NCP.

Once led by Sajeeb Wazed Joy, CRI is now reportedly under the leadership of Saima Wazed Putul, daughter of Prime Minister Hasina, due to legal limitations on Joy’s involvement. Putul is said to be actively managing operations from the Delhi office.

CRI has not responded to the allegations.
