NEWS DESKEU Ambassador to Bangladesh, Michael Miller, met with Jamaat e Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman to discuss preparations for upcoming elections and reforms supported by the party's involvement in the National Consensus Commission, emphasizing the EU's support for an ambitious reform agenda.
The meeting took place in the context of the European Union's engagement with various political parties in Bangladesh ahead of elections.
The meeting was held at the residence of the Jamaat Ameer in the capital's Bhatara area at 11 am local time on Thursday. The ambassador was accompanied by Deputy Head of Delegation Beiba Zerina.
During the meeting, they discussed various issues related to the interests of Bangladesh and the European Union. At that time, the issue of making democracy in Bangladesh meaningful also figured with great importance. They expressed hope that the mutual relations, development and progress between the two will continue in the future.
The ambassador also inquired about the health of the Jamaat Ameer. Discussions were also held regarding the meeting of a high-level delegation of the EU with Jamaat around mid-September.
Jamaat's Nayeb-e-Ameer and former MP Dr. Syed Abdullah Md. Taher and Jamaat Ameer's Foreign Affairs Advisor Professor Dr. Mahmudul Hasan were present at the time.
