The recent fire incident at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport will be thoroughly investigated, and future actions will be based on the findings of that investigation, said Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Adviser to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

She made the remarks on Sunday afternoon while speaking to journalists at the Secretariat, responding to questions regarding the series of recent accidents and their possible impact on the upcoming national election.

In response to a question on whether such incidents could hinder the electoral process, Adviser Rizwana Hasan firmly stated, "The election will be held in February as planned, and the government is working with that timeline in mind. The Election Commission has also been informed of this objective. Necessary steps are being taken to ensure participation of all political parties in the February election."

Referring to the increasing number of major fire incidents, she said, "One after another, we're seeing serious fires. Each of these incidents is being investigated. A fire previously occurred in the Secretariat, and that too was investigated transparently. Similarly, the airport fire will be investigated, and further action will be taken based on the report."

Addressing another question on election-related complications, Rizwana Hasan said, "Since elections haven't been held for a long time, many have lost touch with the process. As elections approach, political discussions and debates naturally intensify. Disputes over redistricting or boundary changes are not unusual, and such matters often reach the High Court. However, none of these issues are enough to derail the election. These are all part of the democratic process, and there is no reason to link them with other matters."
