NEWS DESKThe interim government’s adviser of the ministries for Information and Broadcasting, and Post, Telecommunications and ICT, Md Nahid Islam has resigned from his post. He submitted his resign letter to Chief Adviser (CA) Professor Muhammad Yunus on Tuesday.
Adviser to Chief Adviser’s Office Mahfuj Alam has replaced Md Nahid Islam. According to sources, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam has recently been promoted to the rank of senior secretary. As a result, he has no chance to become adviser.
A gazette notification may be issued today or tomorrow in this regard, sources said.
Mahfuj Alam hails from Isapur village under Ramganj upazila in Lakshmipur.
He is a student of the Law Department of Dhaka University in the 2015-16 academic year. Mahfuj Alam took oath as the adviser to the interim government on November 10.
Mahfuz Alam played an important role during the July uprising under the leadership of the Student Anti-Discrimination Platform. He was the political-intellectual associate in the movement.
Time will tell whether new responsibilities will fall on his shoulders or someone new will be called in.
