The Election Commission (EC), led by AMM Nasir Uddin, is scheduled to meet the President on 10 December before officially announcing the schedule for the 13th parliamentary election and the referendum.

A senior Election Commissioner confirmed the information today, adding that a Commission meeting is set for 7 December to finalise the timetable.

The Commission has indicated that the schedule is expected to be released in the second week of December, with the general election and referendum likely to be held in the first half of February.

"The schedule may be announced a day or two afterwards," the Commissioner said, noting that, by convention, the timetable is finalised in consultation with the President prior to its official release.

When asked for comment, Election Commissioner Abdur Rahmanel Masud confirmed that the latest amendments to the Representation of the People Order (RPO) have been approved and that all preparations have been completed.

Meanwhile, the registration process for two new political parties is also nearing completion.

Election Commissioner Md Anwarul Islam Sarkar said, "The decision on the timing of the schedule will be made during the Commission meeting and finalised after consultation with His Excellency the President."

The Commissioner previously indicated that the schedule could be announced any day in the week following the 7 December meeting.
