Nahid Islam, convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP), said on Friday that politics aligned with India or Pakistan would not be allowed in Bangladesh. He emphasised, "We will rebuild the state with Bangladesh’s interests and the people’s welfare at the forefront."
He made these remarks during the NCP’s inaugural event at Manik Mia Avenue in the capital.
Nahid further noted, "We want to focus on the future and the potential of Bangladesh, leaving the past behind." He referenced the slogan from the July uprising, "Who are you, who am I, alternative, alternative," underscoring the emergence of the new party from an alternative position.

Reflecting on the historic moment, he said, "Today, we are here to announce the founding of our new political party, the National Citizen Party. From this platform, we want to focus only on the future and the dream of Bangladesh. We have gathered to realize that dream."
He concluded, "We pledge that Bangladesh will not be divided. No India or Pakistan-aligned politics will be allowed. We will rebuild the state with the country’s future and the people’s interests in mind."
