Gunshots Fired at NCP Convener Nahid Islam’s Election Office in Dhaka

Gunshots were fired at the election office of National Citizens Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam in the Badda area of the capital on Tuesday night, according to police.

Confirming the incident, the newly appointed Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Badda Police Station under the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) told local media that miscreants opened fire at the office after failing to extort money. Two rounds were fired, he said.

No casualties have been reported so far.

Nahid Islam said the shooting was not politically motivated and had no political links. He described the incident as purely related to extortion.

Police said the matter is being investigated seriously and efforts are underway to identify and arrest those involved.
