Ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election, the Jamaat-e-Islami–led alliance announced 253 of its candidates on Thursday. However, Islami Andolon Bangladesh was absent from the press conference, and no clear statement was made regarding its participation in the alliance. Jamaat had earlier indicated that 47 seats would be kept open for Islami Andolon.

The situation became clear on Friday afternoon, when it was confirmed that the party led by the Charmonai Pir would not be joining the alliance.

Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General and Central Publicity and Media Department Chief Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Jubayer said that a liaison committee has been given responsibility for the remaining 47 seats where candidates have not yet been finalized.

He shared this information at a press conference held at Jamaat’s central office on Saturday.

Ehsanul Mahbub Jubayer further stated that the liaison committee will hold discussions and submit proposals, after which the top leadership will make the final decision.

So far, within the 10-party alliance, Jamaat-e-Islami has confirmed candidates in 179 constituencies, while the National Citizens Party (NCP) has secured 30 seats. Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis has been allocated 20 seats, Khelafat Majlis 10 seats, Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) 7 seats, Nezame Islam Party 2 seats, AB Party 3 seats, and Bangladesh Development Party has been confirmed in 2 constituencies.
