In a strategic bid to tackle the domestic energy crisis, Bangladesh is pushing for a long-term LNG deal with the United States.
Following a bilateral meeting with U.S. Ambassador Brent Christensen on Wednesday (March 11), Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury confirmed that Dhaka is seeking stable LNG supplies to fuel its economy. Additionally, Bangladesh has requested the U.S. for "India-like flexibility" to purchase Russian oil amidst global sanctions. On the same day, the government also reached out to India for extra diesel supplies, signaling a massive diplomatic drive to diversify and solidify the nation’s energy reserves.
