The Jamaat-e-Islami-led 11-party electoral alliance has published its final list of candidates for the reserved women’s seats in the 13th National Parliament. The announcement was made Monday evening by the alliance.
According to the final list, out of 13 candidates, 8 have been nominated from Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh, while the remaining 5 candidates come from allied parties and special categories.
The candidates nominated from Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh include Noorunnisa Siddika, Marzia Begum, Sabikun Nahar Munni, Mardia Momtaz, Nazmun Nahar Nilu, Mahfuza Siddika, Sajeda Samad, and Samsun Nahar.
From allied parties, the nominees include Monira Sharmin and Mahmudah Alam Mitu from the National Citizens Party, Tasmia Pradhan, chairperson of JAGPA, Mahbuba Hakim from Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis Women’s Wing, and Rokeya Begum, mother of July martyr child Jabir Ibrahim.
According to the Election Commission schedule, the deadline for submitting nominations for reserved women’s seats is Tuesday. Seat distribution includes 36 seats for the Bangladesh Nationalist Party alliance, 13 seats for the Jamaat-led alliance, and 1 seat for independents.
Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on April 22 and 23. Appeals against scrutiny decisions can be filed on April 26, with hearings scheduled for April 27 and 28. Final candidates will receive symbols on April 30, and the election will be held on May 12.
