The Chief Observer of the European Union Election Observation Mission (EOM), Ivars Ijabs, is set to present a final report containing 19 recommendations on improving Bangladesh’s future electoral system next Tuesday.

He will officially release the report at a press conference on the same day.

The EU EOM has been present in Bangladesh since late 2025. On the day of the national election, a total of 223 international observers—from EU member states as well as Canada, Norway, and Switzerland—were deployed across all 64 administrative districts of the country.

Earlier, the mission released its preliminary observation report on the parliamentary elections held on February 14.

Last week, the EU Ambassador to Bangladesh and Head of Delegation, Michael Miller, stated that the chief observer would revisit Bangladesh in the coming week. He also noted that a Bangladesh-EU diplomatic consultation meeting would be held during the visit.

In addition, the chief observer is expected to take part in various programs related to human rights and judicial reform. Following his engagements in Dhaka, he will travel by train to Sreemangal.
