Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov are expected to review the current state of bilateral cooperation and explore future prospects during a meeting in Moscow today.
The two sides are also scheduled to exchange views on a range of important regional and international issues of mutual interest.
According to a statement issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry and circulated through the Russian Embassy in Dhaka, political dialogue between Bangladesh and Russia continues to advance steadily despite the current global political environment.
“Regardless of the existing political situation, political dialogue between our two countries continues to move forward consistently. Regular contacts are maintained at various levels, including high-level engagements,” the statement said.
The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that Dr. Khalilur Rahman is visiting Russia on an official three-day trip from June 7 to 9 at the invitation of Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. The visit marks his first official trip to Russia since assuming his current responsibilities.
The ministry also highlighted that Dr. Rahman represents the new government formed following Bangladesh’s parliamentary elections held in February.
The meeting is expected to focus on strengthening bilateral relations and identifying new areas of cooperation between the two countries while addressing key developments in regional and global affairs.
