Bangladesh ICT Minister Attends World Artificial Intelligence Conference 2026 in Shanghai

Bangladesh's Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, and Science and Technology, Fakir Mahbub Anam, is attending the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) 2026 in Shanghai, China.
Chinese President Xi Jinping officially inaugurated the four-day global conference on Friday. The event will continue through July 20.
The opening ceremony also featured addresses by the President of Kazakhstan, the Prime Ministers of Thailand and Cambodia, and United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres.
The conference has brought together heads of government, policymakers, technology leaders, researchers, innovators, and representatives from some of the world's leading technology companies to discuss the future of artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, AI governance, innovation, digital transformation, and sustainable development.
During the conference, Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam is scheduled to participate in several high-level sessions, bilateral meetings, and discussions with global technology leaders and policymakers.
He is expected to highlight Bangladesh's progress in digital transformation, AI-driven innovation, smart governance, and human resource development. The minister will also explore opportunities to strengthen international cooperation in artificial intelligence, advanced technologies, research, investment, and capacity building.
