Abu Dhabi-based Equiline Finance and the UAE’s Faminas Investment Group have expressed interest in investing and providing financing of up to $2 billion in key sectors of Bangladesh.
The companies recently presented investment proposals in several sectors, including energy, transport, healthcare, ports, agriculture and information technology, during meetings with senior government ministers and high-ranking officials.
During the meetings, the delegation expressed interest in renewable energy generation, establishing energy hubs for the storage of strategic energy resources, procuring bulk carriers and cargo vessels for the Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC), and operating electric buses under the “Clean Dhaka” project.
The delegation also proposed generating electricity, fertiliser and biogas through waste recycling, wastewater treatment, upgrading port and logistics infrastructure, modernising public healthcare facilities, developing value chains in fisheries, meat and agriculture, and modernising the dairy sector.
The investment group further expressed interest in constructing strategic grain storage facilities and investing in hotels, amusement parks, data centres, methanol and other chemical industries.
Representatives of the investment group said they were committed to working closely with the Bangladesh government to develop alternative industries to reduce import dependence, create employment, improve infrastructure and technology, strengthen supply chains and enhance the quality of life of the country’s people.
