Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has expelled Satkhira-4 Member of Parliament and Central Shura Member Gazi Nazrul Islam over allegations of moral turpitude. The party also decided to formally notify the Bangladesh Election Commission of his expulsion immediately.

The decision was finalized on Wednesday during an emergency meeting of the party's Central Executive Council, chaired by Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, MP, at the official residence of the Leader of the Opposition in Dhaka.

According to a press statement, an internal investigation was launched following widespread media reports regarding Nazrul's conduct. Upon finding conclusive proof of moral misconduct, the council exercised Article 62 of the party's constitution to expel him. The disciplinary action follows the recent leak of a video on social media depicting intimate moments with a young woman—whom Nazrul subsequently claimed on Facebook to be his second wife. Nazrul previously served as an MP from the same constituency in 1991 and 2001.
