The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has introduced a new initiative at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to improve passenger services, strengthen baggage security and ensure greater transparency and accountability in baggage handling operations.

Under the initiative, 32 CCTV cameras and 18 large 65-inch monitors have been installed across eight baggage belt areas at the airport.

The new system will allow passengers to observe different stages of baggage handling in real time through the installed monitors.

Passengers will be able to watch the process from the unloading of luggage from aircraft and its transportation to designated areas to sorting and delivery to the baggage carousels.

The initiative is expected to give passengers a clearer understanding of how their luggage is handled and provide greater visibility into the process while they wait to collect their bags.

CAAB expects the technology-based monitoring system to improve transparency, operational efficiency and accountability in baggage management.

The authority said it remains committed to protecting passengers’ interests, ensuring safe and comfortable travel, and developing airport services in line with international standards.

Particular emphasis has been placed on ensuring that expatriate Bangladeshis, as well as domestic and international travellers, can collect their luggage smoothly and with greater confidence after completing their journeys.

The initiative marks another step towards expanding technology-driven, passenger-friendly services at Bangladesh’s principal international airport and improving the overall travel experience.
