The United Kingdom has deported 15 Bangladeshi nationals over violating immigration laws, marking the start of stricter action against undocumented migrants.

This follows similar steps recently taken by the United States.

The deportees were flown back to Dhaka on a special charter flight, HFM851, which departed from London’s Stansted Airport at 9:00 PM (local time) on Thursday and arrived in Dhaka via Islamabad at 2:10 PM on Friday.

According to the consular section of the Bangladesh High Commission in London, the returnees included individuals with both valid and expired passports. Travel permits were issued for those without valid documentation. Among the 15, there were also female passengers.

Most of the deportees were residents of Sylhet, Sunamganj, Moulvibazar, Comilla, Brahmanbaria, Chittagong, Noakhali, and districts in and around Dhaka. Travel permit records show that at least six individuals had no occupation listed, while others had been working as waiters or studying in the UK.

UK immigration authorities have recently stepped up enforcement efforts against undocumented immigrants. The deportation was carried out in coordination with the Government of Bangladesh.

Commenting on the matter, an official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, “A significant number of Bangladeshis overstay their visas in the UK. These deportations are being carried out under the UK’s legal framework, in line with standard procedures.”
