In a rare show of unity, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared the stage at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit held in Tianjin, China. The summit, aimed at fostering regional cooperation, took a strategic turn as President Xi issued a direct challenge to U.S. global dominance.

Xi Jinping called for a new global economic and security framework, urging member states to focus on trade, investment, energy, infrastructure, and technological development. “We must harness our vast markets and revitalize our economies,” said Xi. He announced financial support of 2 billion yuan for this year and 10 billion yuan for 2026 to SCO member states.

Alongside Putin and Xi, Modi appeared relaxed, engaging in light conversation and laughter. While the content of their discussion remains undisclosed, the optics signaled strengthening ties amid shifting global alliances.

Putin, in his address, thanked China and India for their roles in efforts toward resolving the Ukraine crisis. He also revealed progress in negotiations with the U.S. regarding military de-escalation near Alaska.

Meanwhile, the SCO condemned the recent Pahalgam attack in the presence of Pakistan's PM Shehbaz Sharif — a diplomatic win for India.

Putin and Modi also held a bilateral meeting on the sidelines, later sharing a car together — an image Modi posted on social media.
