NEWS DESKAfter two years of devastating conflict, a new chapter of peace has begun in the Gaza Strip. On Monday, four key nations—the United States, Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey—signed a Declaration of Guarantee for the Gaza Peace Agreement at a high-level summit held in the Egyptian resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh.
The declaration signifies a commitment by the signatory nations to ensure the durability, implementation, and effectiveness of the newly reached peace accord.
Speaking at the summit, US President Donald Trump described the day as “a remarkable moment in the history of the Middle East.”
He stated, “Today, we are not just signing an agreement—we are laying the foundation for a new future. After years of pain and destruction, the people of Gaza will finally feel the touch of peace.”
Prior to the signing, Trump announced that the declaration would include clear guidelines for post-war reconstruction, governance, humanitarian aid, and security arrangements. He emphasized, “This agreement will last. That is our pledge.”
Earlier in the day, following a prisoner and hostage exchange in Gaza, Trump made a surprise visit to Israel, where he addressed the Israeli parliament (Knesset) and praised Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his “patience, resilience, and leadership.” From there, Trump traveled directly to the Gaza Peace Summit in Sharm El-Sheikh.
In his speech to the Israeli parliament, Trump said, “Since October 7, Israel has been engaged in a war that only a proud and resolute nation could endure. For years, the people of this land have suffered fear, loss, and pain—but today, they can finally begin to dream of peace.”
According to Trump, the peace deal is not only a breakthrough for Israel but also a new beginning for the Palestinian people.
He added, “From Gaza to Ramallah to Jerusalem—wherever people live, they can now begin to dream again. A long, painful nightmare is finally over.”
Key Provisions of the Agreement:
Reconstruction of Gaza’s war-ravaged infrastructure
Delivery of medical and humanitarian aid
Administrative reform within Gaza
Establishment of internationally supervised security mechanisms
The signatory nations pledged to support Gaza’s political stability and prevent future outbreaks of violence through coordinated actions.
Following years of bloodshed, destruction, and despair, this peace agreement offers a new ray of hope for the people of Gaza. The international community is hailing it as a historic turning point in Middle Eastern diplomacy. However, the true test of the agreement's longevity lies in the sincerity of all parties and their commitment to peace in the days ahead.
