Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that the United States and Iran are eager to convene a second round of peace talks shortly. According to Al Jazeera, both nations have expressed a mutual willingness to return to the negotiating table.

The discussions are taking place under the framework of a two-week ceasefire that also encompasses Lebanon, with Islamabad emphasizing that peace in Lebanon is a vital prerequisite for any regional settlement.

While a senior Iranian official indicated progress toward a deal to end weeks of hostilities, significant discrepancies remain regarding Tehran's nuclear program. Reports from Israeli media suggest that Washington has set a specific condition: the Iranian delegation must have full mandate from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to finalize any agreement. This diplomatic engagement in Islamabad marks the highest level of direct contact between U.S. and Iranian officials in over a decade, following the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
