Delhi Police detained Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, senior Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday (July 21) during a high-profile protest outside Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's official residence at Lok Kalyan Marg.

Several other key leaders from the opposition alliance were also taken into custody while attempting to stage a march and sit-in demonstration.

The opposition leaders were demanding the immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over allegations surrounding nationwide examination paper leaks. As the march advanced toward the Prime Minister's residence, law enforcement officers intervened, detaining the leaders to clear the restricted area.

Meanwhile, hundreds of protesting students and supporters gathered at Jantar Mantar to sustain their agitation. Demonstrators asserted that police force would not deter their movement, maintaining that the crackdown has only strengthened their resolve to demand accountability and reform in the national education system.
