CJP Gives Modi Govt. 24-Hour Ultimatum, Demands Education Minister's Resignation

Protest group Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has given the Indian government a 24-hour ultimatum to either secure the resignation of or dismiss Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over allegations of question paper leaks, examination irregularities and the cancellation of the NEET-UG medical entrance examination.

The organization warned that if its demand is not met within the stipulated time, it will launch a nationwide protest on a much larger scale than its demonstration held on July 20.

The announcement came on Friday after nearly two hours of a second round of talks between CJP leaders and representatives of the central government at the Constitution Club of India in New Delhi.

The government delegation included Union Health Minister J. P. Nadda and Union Minister Jitendra Singh. Representing CJP were its National Spokesperson Saurabh Das and Ashutosh Ranka.

Following the meeting, CJP said it had submitted three key demands in writing, along with a five-point agenda aimed at bringing long-term reforms to India's education system.

The group's primary demands include the immediate removal of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, appropriate compensation for the families of students who allegedly died by suicide in connection with the NEET-UG controversy, and the withdrawal of all legal cases filed against protesting students, along with a guarantee that no new cases will be initiated against them.

According to CJP, the government has agreed in principle to the second and third demands. However, it has sought time until Saturday afternoon to make a final decision regarding Pradhan's removal.

Another round of discussions between the two sides is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.

CJP has made it clear that it will not proceed with discussions on its five-point education reform agenda unless the government first agrees to remove the Union Education Minister.
