Saudi Arabia gives priority to first time Hajj Pilgrims

Saudi Arabia has decided to ban children from accompanying Hajj pilgrims. In a statement issued by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, several new regulations regarding the Hajj pilgrimage have been issued.  The Ministry has stated that children will not be allowed to accompany pilgrims during the 2025 Hajj season.

Additionally, Saudi Arabia has introduced certain priorities for first-time Hajj pilgrims. Those performing Hajj for the first time will be given some preference over those who have previously undertaken the pilgrimage.

Saudi Arabia has said that the purpose of this decision is to ensure the safety of children and to protect them from excessive crowds during the annual pilgrimage.

The main reason behind changing the rules for the Hajj pilgrims is to make the pilgrimage easier for new pilgrims, reduce overcrowding at the holy sites, and improve crowd management. Additionally, the Saudi Arabia Ministry of Hajj and Umrah aims to enhance the safety of pilgrims and simplify operational measures during the Hajj pilgrimage.

The new rules included Consideration of health-related precautions. Implementation of a smart system to manage the movement of pilgrims within the holy sites. Upgrading camps and pathways to improve the comfort of pilgrims and facilitate their religious rituals.

It is important to note that the Hajj pilgrimage is considered sacred in Islam, and those who undertake the Hajj are called Haji. Mecca, in Saudi Arabia, is the holiest city for Muslims, and the Hajj pilgrimage is organized there every year. For financially capable Muslims, performing Hajj is considered a mandatory duty.
