NEWS DESKThe winners of the 41st International Quran Competition in Iran have been announced. Bangladeshi Mutahhara Labiba bint Abdul Hafiz brought glory to the country by becoming the runner-up in the women's Quran memorization category in the competition.
The competition was held from January 27 to January 30. On the last day, the winners were awarded prizes at a closing ceremony held in Mashhad, Khorasan Razavi Province.
The first prize in the competition was won by Fatemeh Daliri from Iran and the third prize was won by Afnan Rashad Ali Yaqoub from Yemen.
The event was attended by Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Sayyed Abbas Salehi, along with various cultural and provincial officials, according to state news agency ISNA.
Hafiza Aleema Mutahhara Labiba is a former student of the Sauda Binte Jam'ah (RA) International Girls' Hifz Madrasa in the capital. Earlier, Mutahhara Labiba won third place in the Kuwait International Hifzul Quran Competition held in 2024.
The 41st edition of the International Quran Competition had a total of three categories (Hifz, Qirat and Tartil) for both men and women. 57 competitors from 27 countries participated in the final round of this international competition. The top three finishers in each group were awarded prizes.
Bangladesh was represented in the competition by Hafeza Aleema Mutahhara Labiba Binte Abdul Hafeez, Qari Abuzar Gifari, Hafeez Muhsin Ahmed Mahdi, Hafeez Kalim Siddiqui, and Qari Musarrat Tabassum.
Ghazaleh Soheilizadeh of Iran won first prize in the women's tartil competition. Ayesha Muhammad Ibn Muttalib of Nigeria and Hawra Haider Hamzi of Lebanon won second and third prizes.
In the men's category, Iran's Mojtaba Kadbegi won first place in the Tartil competition. Iraq's Haider Ali ibn Muhammad al-Musawi and Lebanon's Qassem Muhammad Hamdan won the runner-up prize and third prize, respectively, in this category.
In the recitation category, Iran's Seyyed Mohammad Hosseinipour took first place. Egypt's Muhammad Hossein Muhammad took second place, and Iraq's Ahmad Razak Al-Dulfain took third place.
The first prize in the Quran Hifz competition was won by Mohammad Khakpour from Iran. The second prize was won by Morteza Hossein Ali Akash from Libya, and the third prize was won by Ahmed Muhammad Saleh Ibrahim Issa from Egypt.
The main objective of this competition, organized by the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization of Iran, is to promote the culture and values of the Quran in the Muslim world and to provide an opportunity for talented individuals to showcase their talents in reciting and memorizing the Quran.
