NEWS DESKPolice are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect in the assault and robbery of a 99-year-old man in New York City's Washington Heights neighborhood.
The suspect is wanted in a home invasion robbery that took place on Monday morning, according to the New York Police Department.
The man was standing at the entrance to a residential building at 10 a.m. when he was approached by an unidentified person, police said. That person then grabbed the gate, struggled with the victim and pushed his way into the building, according to the NYPD.
After entering the building, the suspect then placed a firearm on the victim’s throat and ordered him to take him to an office, police said. The suspect then took about $20,000 before fleeing the scene on foot, the NYPD noted.
Emergency management services responded to the scene and took the victim to New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center with two broken fingers and a laceration to the hand, according to the NYPD.
Police have released surveillance of the suspect and are asking anyone with information to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
