Six United States service members were killed in a drone strike carried out by Iran at a command center in Kuwait on Sunday, according to military officials. The U.S. Army has identified four of the fallen troops.
Among those killed was a soldier who had been preparing to return home from deployment. Joey Amor, husband of Minnesota resident Nicole Amor, said his wife was close to coming back home.
“She was almost home,” he said. “When you go to Kuwait, you don’t think something like this will happen.”
The other victims were members of the U.S. Army Reserve assigned to logistics operations. They were responsible for supplying food and equipment to fellow service members.
The four identified service members are Captain Cody Cork, 35; Sergeant First Class Noah Tjens, 42; and Sergeant Declan Cody, 20. The identities of the remaining two soldiers have not yet been publicly released.
U.S. defense officials have not yet provided further details about the circumstances surrounding the attack.
