In a strategic decision aimed at addressing regional instability, the United States has declined a Russian proposal to transfer Iran's entire stockpile of enriched uranium to Russian territory.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed on Wednesday (April 15) that Moscow had reiterated its offer to take custody of the material for conversion into civilian-grade fuel—a proposal originally tabled last June.

According to Russian state media, Peskov emphasized that while Russia was fully prepared to facilitate the relocation, the U.S. administration chose to veto the initiative. Washington has consistently cited Iran’s uranium enrichment levels as a primary threat to global security and a precursor to nuclear armament. Conversely, Tehran maintains that its nuclear ambitions are strictly peaceful and asserts that any resolution regarding its stockpile is contingent upon reaching a formal diplomatic agreement with the United States.
