U.S. President Donald Trump has warned that the United States could launch widespread attacks on Iran’s critical infrastructure if a peace agreement is not reached.
In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said the U.S. is offering what he described as a “fair and reasonable” deal and urged Iran to accept it.
“I hope Iran accepts it,” Trump wrote. “Because if they do not, the United States will destroy every power plant and every bridge in Iran.”
In the same post, Trump accused Iran of violating a ceasefire agreement. He claimed that Iranian forces carried out gunfire in the Strait of Hormuz, calling it a “severe violation” of the truce.
Trump also alleged that Iran attacked a French vessel and a British cargo ship, and criticized Tehran’s reported move to shut down the Strait of Hormuz.
“Iran recently announced the closure of the strait, which is strange,” he added. “Because our blockade has already effectively shut it down. They are helping us without even realizing it.”
