Donald Trump expressed optimism that Iran will ultimately participate in upcoming negotiations, stating that a U.S. delegation is already on its way to Pakistan and is expected to arrive in Islamabad Monday night.

In a brief interview, Trump added that if the talks achieve meaningful progress, he would be open to meeting Iran’s top leadership. Addressing concerns that a second round of negotiations might collapse, he said, “We are scheduled to have discussions, so I assume no one is playing any tricks at this point.”

According to Trump, the U.S. delegation will be led by Vice President JD Vance, accompanied by special envoy Steve Witkoff and advisor Jared Kushner.

On the possibility of meeting Iranian leaders, Trump said he has no objections. “I have no problem meeting them if they want to meet,” he noted.

Reiterating his stance on Iran’s nuclear program, Trump emphasized that Iran must abandon any efforts to develop nuclear weapons. “It’s very simple—they cannot have nuclear weapons,” he stated.
