U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has claimed that the United States military deserves to win the Nobel Peace Prize every year.

He made the remarks on Friday during a regular press briefing related to “Operation Epic Fury.”

Responding to a journalist’s question—aligned with the Trump administration’s stated goals—about whether the United States Department of Defense could be renamed the “Department of Peace,” Hegseth expressed his strong position.

“If there is any institution in the world that deserves to win the Nobel Peace Prize every year, it is the United States military,” he said.

Defending his statement, Hegseth argued that U.S. forces not only ensure the security of their own country but also serve as a guarantee of safety and stability for people across the globe. According to him, their contributions to maintaining global peace make them deserving of the prestigious award.

His comments come amid renewed diplomatic efforts to ease tensions between United States and Iran. According to various sources, ongoing talks in Islamabad have seen Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi present Tehran’s conditions aimed at halting potential conflict with Washington.

Observers say the situation reflects a dual-track dynamic: a hardline stance from Washington alongside diplomatic mediation efforts involving Pakistan. The direction of the Middle East crisis remains uncertain as these parallel developments unfold.
