Pentagon Admits Nearly 100 US Troops Injured in Conflict with Iran Over Two Weeks

The Pentagon has officially acknowledged that nearly 100 US military personnel were injured over the past two weeks amidst the escalating conflict with Iran.

Sean Parnell, chief spokesman for the Department of Defense, confirmed the figures in a statement posted on X, as reported by CNN and USA Today. According to Parnell, the majority of the personnel injured since July 7 suffered mild Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI) or concussions, with 96 percent already returning to active duty. However, the exact circumstances and locations surrounding these casualties remain undisclosed by military officials.

The disclosure follows a critical investigation by The New York Times accusing the administration of withholding information regarding dozens of troop injuries from the public. While Parnell dismissed the newspaper's findings as "baseless and malicious," New York Times spokesperson Danielle Rhoades Ha firmly stood by their reporting, emphasizing that it was grounded in disclosures from military officials speaking on the condition of anonymity. This casualty update closely follows the deaths of two additional US service members in Jordan, bringing the total military fatalities to 17 since hostilities commenced.
