Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Mancha and a potential independent candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency, is currently receiving treatment at Singapore General Hospital. He was airlifted to Singapore by air ambulance on Monday for advanced medical care.
On Tuesday afternoon (Bangladesh time), Inqilab Mancha said that although initial medical examinations showed some deterioration in Hadi’s condition, his health is now stable. Quoting his brother, the organization said that Hadi will require another surgery; however, his physical condition is not yet suitable for undergoing the procedure.
Earlier, on December 12 at around noon, Sharif Osman Hadi was shot in the head and critically injured while traveling in a rickshaw in the Bijoynagar area on Box Culvert Road in Old Paltan, Dhaka. According to reports, two assailants on a motorcycle opened fire on him. He was rushed to a hospital immediately after the attack. As his condition worsened, doctors decided to transfer him to Singapore for advanced treatment.
He was admitted to Singapore General Hospital at 6:50 pm (Bangladesh time) on Monday.
Law enforcement agencies have identified two suspects allegedly involved in the attack: Faisal Karim Masud, also known as Daud Khan, the main suspected shooter, and Alamgir Hossain, the motorcycle rider. However, the two principal suspects have not yet been arrested. Several individuals have been detained in connection with the incident.
