The United States has issued a strict warning to Bangladeshi citizens regarding visa use, stating that traveling to the U.S. for the primary purpose of giving birth will not be permitted.

In a post shared Wednesday on its verified Facebook page, the U.S. Embassy in Dhaka said that visas will be denied if applicants are found to be seeking entry mainly to secure U.S. citizenship for their child.

The message emphasized that using a visa for “birth tourism” — traveling specifically to give birth in order to obtain citizenship for the newborn — is not allowed under U.S. immigration rules.

“If a consular officer has reason to believe that this is your primary purpose of travel, your visa application will be refused,” the embassy stated.

The warning highlights increased scrutiny in visa processing and reinforces existing policies aimed at preventing misuse of travel visas for immigration-related benefits.
