Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury has reaffirmed the government's commitment to maintaining transparency in the nation's capital markets. Speaking at the 13th National Parliament session on Thursday (April 30), the Minister stated that there was no room for stock market manipulation during the previous BNP tenure, and no such opportunities would be granted in the future.
He presented the ‘Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2026,’ aimed at strengthening the regulatory framework of the market.
During the session, opposition members raised concerns regarding past market crashes and the alleged misappropriation of vast sums over the last 15 years, calling for accountability to restore investor confidence. In response, the Finance Minister emphasized that the current administration is focused on institutional integrity and that the proposed bill has undergone rigorous scrutiny by special committees.
