Sexist and derogatory remarks regarding the attire of women lawmakers from Jamaat-e-Islami, made by Cumilla-6 MP Monirul Haque Chowdhury, triggered massive chaos and outrage in Parliament.

During the general budget discussion of the 13th National Parliament, Chowdhury’s objectionable comments prompted immediate and fierce protests from opposition members who demanded accountability. To defuse the volatile situation, Deputy Speaker Kaisar Kamal ordered the offensive portions of the speech to be expunged from the parliamentary record, while issuing a stern warning to lawmakers to uphold decency and dignity.

Opposition Whip Nahid Islam strongly condemned the remarks, labeling the behavior as an "unpardonable crime" and "racist." Following widespread backlash on the parliament floor, MP Chowdhury was ultimately forced to express regret for his statements.
