The U.S. Embassy in Dhaka has issued a fresh warning to foreign nationals, stating that misuse of U.S. taxpayer-funded public benefits could result in visa cancellation and other serious immigration consequences.
The warning was published on Saturday through the embassy's verified Facebook page.
According to the statement, foreign visitors or tourists who misuse or become dependent on public assistance programs funded by U.S. taxpayers while staying in the United States may face strict penalties.
The embassy also emphasized that travelers should be financially prepared to cover all of their expenses during their stay in the United States without relying on public assistance.
It further warned that nonimmigrant or temporary visa holders found violating these rules could have their current visas revoked immediately. In addition, such individuals may be deemed permanently ineligible for future U.S. visas, significantly affecting their ability to travel to the United States.
The embassy urged all visitors to comply with U.S. immigration laws and ensure they can independently support themselves throughout their stay.
