Chevron Expresses Interest in Investing in New Gas Field Exploration in Bangladesh

US multinational energy corporation Chevron has expressed a strong interest in increasing investment to develop existing mature gas fields and explore new ones in Bangladesh.

The commitment came on Sunday during a courtesy meeting between a high-level Chevron delegation and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Prime Minister's Office in the Secretariat, as confirmed by Deputy Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Shahadat Swadhin.

Led by Javier La Rosa, Chevron’s President of Base Assets and Emerging Countries, the delegation held discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in Bangladesh's energy sector and boosting domestic production capacity. The meeting was attended by Prime Minister’s Adviser for Finance and Planning Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, State Minister for Power and Energy Anindya Islam Amit, Chevron Bangladesh President and Managing Director Shu Shiyong, and other senior government and corporate officials.
