The Taliban government in Afghanistan has welcomed the recent stance taken by Russia, China, Iran, and Pakistan regarding foreign military bases in Afghanistan. In a joint statement, the four countries reiterated their opposition to the establishment of any foreign military bases in Afghanistan or its surrounding areas, stating that such actions are not conducive to regional peace and security.

Hamidullah Fitrat, a spokesman for the Taliban government, emphasized that Afghanistan will never allow its soil to be used against any other country and will not permit any armed groups to operate within its borders. He added that the Afghan government is taking active measures against corruption, drugs, and crime and seeks friendly relations with all nations based on mutual respect and trust.

The joint statement issued by the four countries also called on the Afghan authorities to implement counterterrorism measures, close down terrorist camps, and prevent cooperation with foreign terrorists. The statement specifically mentioned groups such as ISIS, al-Qaeda, TTP, and BLA as regional and global threats to security.

Recently, former U.S. President Donald Trump had attempted to regain control of the Bagram Airbase in Afghanistan. However, the Taliban government rejected this claim.

Meanwhile, a delegation from Pakistan’s Jamaat-e-Islami party met with Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister to discuss the two countries' bilateral relations and border security.
