Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul says he's suspending the implementation of a peace agreement with Cambodia after a land mine blast injured Thai troops. The two sides signed the pact last month, with US President Donald Trump looking on.
The Thai army says the explosion occurred Monday morning in a border area of northeastern Sisaket Province, wounding two soldiers, one of whom lost a foot.
Charnvirakul told reporters the incident shows hostility to national security hasn't eased. He said measures Thailand has taken since the peace deal will remain frozen until the situation is clarified. The Cambodian government has yet to respond.
The two countries signed the peace declaration -- mediated by Trump in Malaysia -- after days of deadly border clashes in July. The agreement called for both sides to withdraw heavy weapons from the frontier and cooperate on mine clearance.
