The European Union’s naval mission has issued a warning for shipping in the Red Sea, amid rising tensions linked to Iran’s support for Yemen’s Houthi rebels. The mission said it is closely monitoring the situation to ensure maritime security.

According to a report by Al Jazeera on Sunday, the mission has issued updated guidance for commercial vessels, advising ships to register and seek assistance via maritime security channels. The EU mission confirmed that its naval assets remain deployed in the operational area and are on high alert, with the primary goal of maintaining safe passage and free navigation in international waters.

Meanwhile, for the first time since the conflict involving Iran entered its second month, Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi group has joined the fighting. On Saturday morning, the group launched a ballistic missile toward southern Israel.

In a statement early Saturday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed detecting a missile launch from Yemen targeting Israeli territory. Israel’s air defense systems were reportedly activated to intercept the missile and neutralize the threat.

Earlier, a Houthi official told CNN that the group would escalate attacks and enter the conflict in support of Iran if the United States or Israel increased military action against them.
