Shehbaz Sharif has invited delegations from the United States and Iran to Islamabad for peace talks scheduled for this Friday, April 10.
According to Iranian news agency ISNA, the U.S. delegation may be led by Vice President JD Vance, while Iran’s delegation could be headed by Parliament Speaker Bagher Ghalibaf.
In a statement posted on social media platform X, Shehbaz congratulated both countries for agreeing to a ceasefire. He wrote that, with great humility and joy, he acknowledges that Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States, along with their allies, have agreed to an immediate ceasefire.
Shehbaz expressed deep gratitude to the leadership of both nations and formally invited their representatives to Islamabad to engage in discussions aimed at resolving remaining disputes and reaching a final agreement.
The Pakistani Prime Minister also praised the wisdom and prudence shown by both sides, noting that their constructive actions are helping promote peace and stability. He expressed hope that the “Islamabad Talks” will lead to a durable peace and bring more positive developments in the coming days.
