The Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, has heavily criticized Washington’s foreign policy following recent Israeli airstrikes on Beirut's Dahiyeh district.
In a statement on social media, Ghalibaf asserted that the assault demonstrates that the current administration either lacks the political will or completely lacks the capability to fulfill its diplomatic commitments.
He warned that giving a green light to Israeli military actions would yield no leverage, dismissing Washington's dual diplomatic approach as an obsolete tactic that is no longer effective. Ghalibaf added that pursuing further negotiations is meaningless if the mediating superpower cannot enforce its promises. The deadly raid in the Lebanese capital, which left three dead and fifteen injured, threatens to reignite regional hostilities that had previously ceased following a temporary mediation brokered by President Donald Trump.
