President Donald Trump on Thursday night hosted the annual Iftar & Dinner at the White House, where he thanked the "hundreds of thousands of Muslim-Americans who supported" him in the 2024 presidential election.

"The Muslim community was there for us in November -- and while I'm president, I'm going to be there for you," he said during a brief speech ahead of the meal. "I think you know that."

The dinner comes as a deadly war between Israel and Hamas continues to rage on in the Middle East.

Every day, we're keeping our promises to the Muslim community. My administration is engaged in relentless diplomacy to forge a lasting peace in the Middle East, building on the historic Abraham Accords, which everyone said would be impossible.

Now, we're going to start filling them out," Trump told his guests.

All we want is peace,” he later added. The President also said his goal is to achieve a brighter, more hopeful future for all.

You have someone in the White House who loves you,” he said.

The event is a traditional feast, which marks the breaking of the fast during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, a sacred time of fasting, prayer, and communal gathering.

Earlier this month, the president offered his "warmest greetings" to those observing Ramadan.

"It is a time to draw hope, courage, and inspiration to lead lives of holiness and virtue," he previously said in a statement.

"As millions of Muslim Americans begin their Ramadan observances, my Administration recommits to upholding religious liberty that is such an integral part of the American way of life. Above all, we renew our resolve to building a future of peace, and to recognizing the dignity imprinted on every human soul," he added.

"This Ramadan, I offer my best wishes for a season of joyous reflection on God’s endless grace and infinite love. May God bless you and your families during this wondrous season."
