Iran unveils Cancer Treatment Device ECT, developed by Own Technology

Iran has unveiled the first domestically-developed production line for Electrochemotherapy (ECT) ablative device, a cutting-edge cancer treatment, joining a select group of countries worldwide capable of producing this therapeutic technology.

The unveiling ceremony of the production line for ECT took place in Tehran University Science & Technology Park on Monday, and experts from the company “Pishro Fanavaran Darman Pars” successfully launched it.

Electrochemotherapy is a novel targeted therapeutic method for cancer tumors. By using electric pulses, ECT significantly increases the permeability of cell membranes, enhancing the effectiveness of anti-cancer drugs.

This achievement was accomplished through domestic technical expertise and adherence to international standards. Iran has become the first Asian country to produce this innovative technique, joining Italy and the United Kingdom.

ECT has shown remarkable results in the treatment of various types of cancer, such as skin cancer and breast cancer. So far, more than one thousand patients have undergone this procedure, with about 200 cases successfully treated.
