NEWS DESKKuwait has carried out the execution of seven prisoners convicted of serious crimes, including murder and drug trafficking. The executions took place on Thursday at the country’s central prison, according to Kuwaiti authorities.
Among those executed were three Kuwaiti citizens, two Bangladeshis, and two Iranians, officials confirmed.
Local newspapers Arab Times and Al-Seyassah reported that some of the convicts were linked to the high-profile murders of Kuwaiti nationals Abdul Aziz Al-Jatari and Ahmed Al-Jalal. The two Iranian nationals were executed on charges of drug smuggling.
In one case, relatives of a condemned prisoner attempted to raise approximately 2 million Kuwaiti dinars as blood money to secure a pardon. However, they failed to deliver the amount within the legal timeframe, leading to the execution being carried out.
Authorities also confirmed that the execution of another convict was halted at the last moment after the victim’s family granted forgiveness. His case has been suspended pending new legal procedures. For humanitarian reasons, his identity was not disclosed.
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Justice emphasized that all executions were carried out only after exhaustive legal proceedings, including appeals and reviews, had been completed in accordance with the law.
