With the 13th National Parliamentary Election just weeks away, the political landscape is shifting as the 'Bangladesh Labour Party' officially joined the alliance led by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami. This inclusion restores the coalition to an 11-party alliance.
A Unified Stance for Justice The announcement was made during a press conference at Jamaat's central office on Saturday evening (January 24). Jamaat's Assistant Secretary General, ATM Masum, welcomed the new partner, stating that the alliance aims to build a nation based on justice and anti-hegemony. Dr. Mustafizur Rahman Iran, Chairman of the Bangladesh Labour Party, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing their commitment to fulfilling the aspirations of the Liberation War and the July uprising through meaningful reform.
Countdown to Election Day This strategic expansion comes as the country enters the peak of election fever. According to the Election Commission's schedule, the national polls are set for February 12. Official campaigning, which began on January 22, is currently in full swing and will conclude on the morning of February 10. With candidate lists finalized and symbols allotted, the 11-party alliance is now gearing up for a consolidated electoral battle.
