Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has stated that while previous rulers sought to become masters of the country, his party aims to serve as the "servants" and "sentinels" of the people. Addressing an election rally as the chief guest at the Bakshibazar Alia Madrasa ground in the capital today, Sunday (January 25), he emphasized the party's commitment to protecting the public trust.
At the beginning of his speech, he recalled the sacrifices of party leaders, alleging that 11 top leaders were victims of judicial killings, and condemned the atrocities committed against patriots and civilians from the 2009 Pilkhana massacre to the uprising on August 5, 2024.
Regarding the upcoming election and referendum, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman remarked that a "Yes" vote in the referendum signifies a stand for freedom. He stressed that this vote is essential to ensure that fascism never returns to the country. He noted that instead of engaging in past conflicts, Jamaat-e-Islami intends to move forward toward a prosperous future. Taking a firm stance against corruption, he stated that it is impossible to build a corruption-free Bangladesh while shielding loan defaulters. He clarified that Jamaat has no desire to build "Begum Para" abroad; rather, they want to serve as the guardians of the people’s wealth.
Criticizing rival political groups, the Jamaat Ameer urged citizens to reconsider parties whose members resort to violence over extortion. He promised that if Jamaat comes to power, they will function as genuine servants rather than traditional rulers. Their primary goal is to ensure the proper use of taxpayers' money and establish a society based on justice. He concluded by calling on the public to exercise their right to vote and remain vigilant against all conspiracies.
